How to Scale by Percentages in ImageXY

It’s 2011, we shouldn’t have to explicitly tell the computer things. It should have enough smarts to infer what our intentions are – or at least try. If one inputs data incorrectly we shouldn’t just beep at the user and expect them to figure out what they’re doing wrong. We should filter out the bad data and leave the good.

With this in mind – how do we scale by percentage with ImageXY? Simply add a % after the number. That’s it. Unlike every other sizing dialogue out there (to my knowledge at least), ImageXY guesses what you mean.

No extra moving your mouse and selecting something from some menu. No getting beeped at because you tried to type in something that wasn’t a number.

If you want to scale to 25% of the original size simply type “25%” and ImageXY understands that you want to resize by percentages. ImageXY will automatically fill in both the width and height ensuring that your image always scales properly.

Conversely, if you want to switch back to pixel based sizing when creating a preset, simply delete the % and ImageXY guesses that you probably want to scale in pixels, not percentages.
