In junior high school I was on the digital yearbook team along with two other friends. The digital yearbook was more or less a website that was run off a cd-rom. It was made entirely student made with the backing of Mr. Zone, our computers teacher.
The yearbook was, as you would imagine a yearbook would be, a page for each grade, a page for each teacher with a table full of photos and names of their students. We even had all of the photos of the students already on one of the computers, so we didn’t have to scan in 400+ photos.
Design and development was rather quick and event free. I spent way too much time designing and editing my personal page of the digital yearbook, as each team member got one.
We were well ahead our deadline, so we thought we should burn a copy and see how it runs. That’s when we realized that the photos were far too large. All 400+ photos wouldn’t fit on the CD. They needed to be resized in order to fit.
Resize we did. Manually. One-by-one. For the next, what seemed like forever, I spent every extra moment at school resizing photos. Skipping classes (with teacher’s permissions, of course) to try and finish in time.
I can’t calculate how many hours I spent on such a mundane task or how much better my science grades could have been if I wasn’t skipping to resize photos.
Today, the batch image resize problem is solved and available exclusively on the Mac App Store.

ImageXY is a simple, fast, batch image resizer. We designed it for easy of use and speed, so you can get in, get out, and get on. Resize 1 – 10,000(or more if you want) photos with a single click.
