Jisho Tips and Tricks: #1

As a student of Japanese myself, I find that it helps me remember kanji meanings and readings if I integrate Japanese usage into OS X. An example of this is my bookmarks bar in Safari. Previously - the groupings of my bookmarks bar were in my native tongue - English. I figured I could perhaps save some space and improve my reading a bit by changing their name to Japanese.

For the words that I didn’t know in Japanese, I looked them up using Jisho’s integration with OS X by merely highlighting the word, and pressing cmd-shift-J.

Before:

Safari before using Jisho to translate bookmarks bar

After:

Safari after Jisho's help

There you can see the saved space brought to you with the help of Safari.

Dear Sir, Was wondering if you could give any tips for getting jisho to work with Entourage for Mac? Thanks!

    Hey Greg,

After doing some research it seems that Microsoft Office does not support OS X Services. Thus the current integration will not work with Entourage. I am working on deeper integration with OS X, so hopefully in the future all applications will be able to take advantage of Jisho.
